Ryan has been a handful recently (mostly in a good way!). We've been busy doing fun summer things - lots of pool time, parties, and playdates. Ryan had his second dentist appointment last month and did so much better than the first time. I love this little pediatric dentist office and he was so brave! Luckily, we had kicked the pacifier habit about 10 days prior to the appointment, so I could officially tell the dentist that he doesn't use one anymore!
Ryan's new thing is running into the living room naked after baths and building a choo choo train with his play chairs. He thinks he is pretty funny. I think he is cute!
We went with Ryan's friends Alex and Elijah to Pump it Up a few weeks ago, and all he wanted to do was sit in the Fire truck. He pretty much could have cared less about the bounce houses and was too scared to do most of the obstacle courses and slides. The boy has a very healthy fear of heights, being stuck in small spaces, etc. these days.
Cute pic of Ryan in his new Lion PJs
He has taken a recent liking to baking! He's baking some chocolate chip cookies with CoCo here, but he's been loving baking muffins and my birthday cake with Dad, too!He has also taken an interest in Wes working out. He always says he wants to "go to jog" and then when they get home, he will try and mimic the push-ups. It's too cute!
His vocabulary has just taken off over the past month. Some of the words he knows seriously shocks me. Here are a few of his funny sayings recently.
"I'm not tired" = He is super tired and although he thinks he is tricking me, it actually tells me needs to sleep stat
"That's so cute mommy" = He says this once I get dressed in the morning, not too long after he says that he needs to put on my make up and brush his hair! Guess that is what happens when we spend every morning together.
"Wipe my tears" = He has been crying a lot lately, just at small stuff, but once the fit is over he wants you to wipe his tears off.
"I'm so scared" = This is repeated on a daily/nightly basis. He has recently become terrified of our foyer at night when it's dark in there. He won't walk by it or even get close to it most nights. He has also started having bad dreams, we think which makes me sad. The other day, Wes went in his room after a nap and he was screaming about chickens?!? Pretty funny and sad! He is just really skiddish and gets nervous really easily these days.
"Mommy/Daddy's lil boy" = He now refers to himself in the third person as Mommy or Daddy's lil boy. He'll say stuff like "Come get mommy's lil boy" or "Daddy's lil boy scared." Not really sure where he picked this up.
"What I going to eat for night?" = He asks this question every day and usually about 5 hours before dinner. It's hilarious because he is dead serious - like he really wants to know. By the way, eh is eating like a champ these days (in comparison to where we were 6 weeks ago at least). He is LOVING green beans, chicken, potatoes, trying beef, etc. And will actually now eat PBJ and turkey sandwiches which is a huge step up from Corndogs almost everyday!
"I don't want to be patient" = He obviously knows what it means now and he will, unprovoked, tell me he doesn't want to be patient if I am telling him he has to wait to go do something, go somewhere, etc.
He really just chatters or sings allllll day long. His current favorite song is "Call me Maybe." If it comes on the radio, he goes crazy. He actually knows when the chorus comes up, where to insert, "so call me maybe." It's too funny! He really does just sing while he plays by himself all day long. Not sure if he doesn't like the silence, or just loves to hear himself, or maybe he is just happy but he'll just sing a song and then say, "ok, how about Farmer in the Dell (or another song)" then sing that song and move on to the next one.
Last weekend we went with the Williams to the circus. I think Wes and I had more fun than Ryan, but it was still neat to watch. I didn't really get a good pic of the 3 of us, but here are a few from the day.
The tall stilt guy was one of my favorites!
These guys were amazing and right in front of us!
This was Ryan's souvenir that he demanded. Of course he hated the $10 sno cone, but whatever!
So cute :)
Then, this past weekend, we went to the Wiggles concert at Verizon. We had high hopes for the day considering he loves watching their videos on YouTube, but after a crazy, busy weekend, he was tired and kept telling us how he wanted to go home. He even just laid on my chest for a while and didn't even watch the show!
As we found out before the show, this is the last "original cast" tour of the Wiggles, so I feel like we at least got to see a part of history, ha!
His two favorite songs are "Big Red Car" (below) and "Hot Potato". Unfortunately, we didn't make it long enough to see the latter. We stayed about an hour and fifteen minutes, just so we could feel like we got our money's worth, but then took off! At least later in the day he was talking about how he had fun at the show :)
Well, I think that is about it for now. Ryan starts back school tomorrow for one more summer session and Wes started school again last night. So I guess in that since, summer is officially over :( Hopefully, I'll try and blog again soon about baby boy #2!
