Christmas Surprise

Christmas day came and went. We got up on the 26th and after a slow morning, decided to go for a jog with plans to come home and take the kids to a movie that afternoon. Wes was rushing me more than I would have preferred, but still, I went. We got home, and just like previous days, I went to the front door to see if FedEx had come. My mom told me their packages from FedEx with the Christmas presents had been delayed due to weather, but should arrive on the 26th. Of course, they weren't there again, so I settled for a game of Clue with Ryan. Not 5 minutes into the game, the back door opened to the sounds of "Ho Ho Ho" and some bells jingling. The boys and I looked around, really confused until we realized, CoCo and Poppy were here! My dad had Wes in on the plan since Thanksgiving. They all kept it a secret as I had absolutely NO clue! I feel like it's hard to keep a secret from me, but they did such a great job. It was the best surprise!!!

The boys were ECSTATIC! They are still talking about the surprise trip a month later!
After we got settled in with some Mimosas, and the boys had figured out which sack of presents was theirs, they couldn't stand the anticipation.....
...first, some tickles!

And now, begins the craziness!

New baseball bats for the spring

Remote control racecars for everyone! You get a car....

....and you get a car!!!
Everybody gets a car!!!
Some fun, new utensils and plates. Maybe this will make them eat.....

The aftermath......
Oh, but wait, there's more!

Can you spy a Charlie?!?!

Probably their favorite gifts...
Official swim bags :) Ryan was so pumped. He just loves swimming and of course all the swag doesn't hurt either!
B was pretty stoked too!
One of B's last minute, 11th hour requests, was an orange toolbox with real tools. Luckily, CoCo made it happen. You give her a task, she will find a way to see it through. It's like a personal challenge for her! This may have been his most anticipated gift as it was top of mind over the past few weeks.
He was so cute inspecting all of the tools.

After presents, we headed over into Mobile to the Bike Shop for some of our best Mexican food options around. We had a fun week with a lot of eating, lounging, some shopping and movie watching. My mom and I took the boys to see Ferdinand one afternoon.
We had so much fun with them and it made the holidays feel more normal having family around. Being away from home just isn't the same, but it was a fun, new way to spend Christmas for sure! The 5 days seemed to go by so quickly, as they always do. They texted me when they were about to fly over, so we got to go outside and look at the plane. It was awesome!

Waving to CoCo and Poppy, haha!

Such a fun trip and way to end the holidays!

Christmas 2017

We had a very low key Christmas at our house. Christmas Eve, we went to church in the afternoon, after naps.
The service ran a little long, and the natives were getting restless, but they did love the music. It was the children's service, so the enjoyed singing all of the songs, playing with their glow-stick candles that they were supposed to save until the end, and coloring!

A sweet family pic

We came home after church, changed into our matching jammies, and Wes started cooking one of my faves - Chicken Fettucine Alfredo! We told the boys once they were finished eating, we would open the presents that Wes and I got the boys. They were anxious to take a quick pic and get started!

Here they go.....

Ryan was pretty excited. He had been wanting a cross necklace for a while! Of course, now B wants one!

The way to this kids heart, clothes (and candy!)!
A personalized puzzle with pics of the family
A last minute gift he asked for, that luckily Aunt Megan and Uncle Jon sent - Transformer Rescuebots for each boy!

More Paw Patrol!!! There's not enough Paw Patrol in the world to satisfy this boy!

A gift for all three of them - a map that you scratch off the places you've been which I thought was pretty cool!
After they opened their gifts in all of about 7 minutes, we let them help open our gifts that Wes and I got each other. They got just about the same amount of satisfaction out of that as well!
Jammies for the Family - excuse my possessed look. Selfies are hard!
Christmas morning - Santa came!!!!
Ryan's loot. He specifically sent a request home with Ducky over the holidays asking him to ask Santa if he would wrap some of the gifts this year. I think it helps make Christmas last a little longer, so he was pretty excited.
Charlie's stuff
and B's stuff
Traditional pic at the top of the stairs. We told them we would get up at 7 and then come get them. Surprisingly, I think Ryan and B slept until about 6:40-6:45 Ryan said. We did have to wake up Charlie!
Ready.......GO!

Assessing the piles to figure out which one was theirs.

Poor Charlie was confused and thought he didn't have a pile!!!
Straight to the sweets - like I said, one of the two ways to his heart!!!
A Fitbit!!! He has been begging for one for a while. Now, he is obsessed with it. It's so cute how into it he gets with his step count, active minutes and calorie burn!!!

See his gifts still piled to the left?!?! He was certain he didn't get anything.
Finally! Starting to open his...

He's been playing this game at school and wanted for us to be able to play with him at home.

His own Under Armour beanie - lookin fly!!
Optimus Prime

Opening his big gift....
...his own iPad (in their words). It's a Kindle Fire, but he was excited.

By this point, the older ones had nothing left to open, but since C had such a late start, they wanted to get in on the action with him, too.

All done! No more!
Oh but wait! Santa hid one by the fireplace for all 3 of them!
Lasertag!
Took a second to understand what it was exactly.
Love how Charlie's looking at Ryan in this pic.
After the present chaos subsided, we had our traditional Old English-sausage-English muffins (had them every Christmas growing up on the Hicks side and we have since continued! B started calling them cheese bunnies, not sure why!), cinnamon rolls, and eggs.

The weather was amazing outside, so we put the laser tag set together and let the boys (all 4 of them!) run wild outside!

They had a blast!

Then, B wanted to test out his new scooter. Man, he can fly on those things, as can Charlie!

Ryan shot some hoops.

Later that evening, we FaceTimed with my family and let the kids open their gifts from Scoot and Alissa. B got a karate suit which he had asked for, and although was shy at first, later in the evening he put it to full use!

The kid has an endless amount of energy at all times!!
We had a wonderful Christmas, just the 5 of us. Stayed tuned for our after Christmas surprise!
