Winter Wrap-up

I realize it's been a while since I have done an update on all of the boys. It seems like quite a bit has happened this year so far. Ryan has had a great season with basketball this year. Wes coached their team and did such a great job with the kids. Ryan played with his best friends that live on our street which made the experience even more fun, His brothers also really enjoyed coming to the games as well. By the end of the season, Charlie would sit on my lap and scoot toward the edge of my knees and watch the game so intently. He would even scream out "Wy-an" sometimes. Pretty sure he's going to be ready to get on that court sooner than later.

Ryan played so awesome this year. He is pretty consistent both offensively and defensively. I don't think he knows he is a good player which makes it even cuter. Some games, he would say things like "I think our team made it to 16 and the other to 9, so did we win?"

Here he is when he won the medal for the week. He just so happened to receive it the same week Ashley did, which made it all the more special to him.

These two. Such great friends who secretly (or maybe not so secretly) want to get married.
Once they found out they would be playing in the winner's bracket for the tournament, they thought it would be a good idea to get some extra practice in after school!
Here Ryan is making an awesome shot to start off their final game. He was actually being blocked by this tall (and might I add AWESOME) girl in front of him, but was able to take a shot and made it.
He also got to shoot his first free throw of the season, too. I videoed it since I actually knew he would  be getting a chance at a shot. They ended up finishing in 3rd place for the season out of 10 teams. Not too shabby!

Here's a pic of the whole team - the Cowboys!

My three boys being sweet for change, all at the same time!
Toward the end of January, Ryan's school had a Mother/Son game night one Friday night. They did a great job with it. We ate pizza, played human Hungry-Hungry Hippos, bowled, and played all sorts of games. They had someone taking pictures and got these cute little frames for us as well.
Ryan loved this game - it was quite the workout for me, however.
  SCORE!!!
I think he was impressed with his bowling skills.
To top off an exciting month, on January 23rd, he lost his first tooth! He did get hit in the mouth with the basketball at the game earlier that day, so we are thinking that kind of helped the tooth along. He bit into an apple about an hour after the game, and lo and behold, the tooth came out. Wes never found it, so we can only assume he swallowed it!!! He was a little distraught after losing it, but seemed to cheer up later that day!
My little boy doesn't look so little anymore!
When I was going back through my pictures, I came across a few from the birthday party we went to at Exploration park. I felt this one had to be displayed because here lies the culprit of my concussion. These were the "blocks" that hit me square in the temple and thus disrupting our entire family's life for the better part of 3 weeks. Cool concept, poor design.

We also had B fitted for glasses about a month ago. I am so glad we went and got a second opinion because this doctor felt he could really benefit from glasses and hopefully help correct his exotropia at the same time. He was so well behaved during his appointment, the doctor couldn't believe he had just turned 3. It was crazy because they had him identify letters flashed across the room on the wall. Once they pointed out to me how he turns his head when they would tell him to look from his left eye, I was shocked. He clearly is right eye dominant (his good eye, not the wandering eye), so when asked to look from the left, he would turn his head so that the right eye could help. It was subtle, but definitely made me realize we needed to do something about this.

We had to go pick out his glasses the next week. No joke, he had to try one every.single.child's.pair that existed, including all of the girls. He was so funny. He would try one on, go run to the mirror and say something like - "these are too big," "these look silly," etc. He had an opinion on just about every one. We finally narrowed it down to two pair because that it all he honestly even liked, and one fit better than the other so it made the decision easy. Here is what he picked out (his actually have a non-glare lens).
We went out for cupcakes to celebrate the day!

So fast forward 4 weeks, and voila! Here is my cutie in glasses. I just love how he looks in them. What's even better, is that he helped pick them out so he is really proud of them. When anyone would ask him what they were going to look like, he would happily describe them.
Of course, he is most obsessed with the accessories - not one, but two cases and the cleaning supplies. He wants to keep tabs on his cases at all times and loves to stuff goodies in them. We only picked them up yesterday afternoon, so we are just 24 hours in with them. So far, so good. I took a peek through the lenses and am pretty sure these are going to help him because they made my eyes go crazy. He had a lot of questions at first like when he was going to wear them and when they would be taken off, but for the most part it has been a non-event. Hoping this trend continues.
My studious little boy! You can kind of tell here, but they are actually transition glasses that turn to sunglasses when outside. It's kind of funny because he looks like an old lady when they are in between stages, but I do think he likes that they help with the sun.
Here are a few pics of the boys opening their Valentine's goodies from us. They LOVE candy, if you can't tell!

I don't have a picture of B's, but you can see in the left background of this pic, a shoebox. We had to send a decorated box to school for Ryan's class to hold all of their Valentine's. Well, B thought that was just the coolest thing ever, so of course he needed a shoebox too. He put all of his Valentine's from his class party in there, amongst other things. He loves to just go through all of the cards and candy and just sit at the table with the box. We are now over two weeks out from Valentine's Day and he has looked and "played" with this box no less than 20 times. It's pretty cute.
Charlie has been known to sneak in the pantry when the door gets left open and just get out whatever it is that he feels like eating. Usually it's cookies, but on this particular day it was Cheez-its. He not only took the bag out, but got his Snack-eez cup and tried to "pour" in the Cheez-its into the tiny little snack part. Ya. Major Fail (or win from his perspective). He just started eating all of the ones on the floor.
My parents surprised Ryan with tickets to the Sound of Music a few weeks ago. Over Christmas break, he spent a few days at their house and by the end of the time, he was hooked on all of the music. He came home singing all of the songs and dancing around all day long. So my parents started searching around for tickets. They had two together and then somehow miraculously, there was one ticket right in front of the other two available, so they snagged it. Once my mom told him about it, he began the countdown from like 6 weeks out which seemed like an eternity to him (and me too because he asked so often!). Finally, the day arrived. He had a basketball game that morning. Afterwards, we got dressed and went out to a nice lunch with both my mom and dad. Ryan could've cared less about it because he just wanted to get to the theater. He thought everything as so cool. From the parking garage underground, to walking in the tunnel under the street, and the snack bar. He was in Heaven! We got a few pics together in front of the sign before the show.

Then, we got him his second Sprite for the day, some M&Ms and even a DVD of the movie.

To say he absolutely loved the show would be an understatement. From start to end (including intermission) it was right at 3 hours, and he was just perfect. He was so into it, his eyes glued to the stage the entire time, and was even clapping after every number. It's all he could talk about the rest of the day. I don't think we had even made it to the parking lot before he stated how he wanted to go see another show immediately!

This past week was another fun week for Ryan. He got to be Star of the week for his Kinder class, but more importantly it was WATCH DOGS week! Another event he had been counting down since September! It's a day when the dads get to come to the school for an entire day and volunteer. Basically a way to show how dads support their kids and are good role models for the students. He got to spend a good part of the day with Ryan (which he just loved). He's so proud to have Wes as his dad, it was just really cute. He had a smile on his face the rest of the day, and couldn't go to sleep that night because he said "I just can't stop thinking about WATCH DOGS today (with a huge grin on his face)."
One last story about Ryan. One night this week Ryan was working on his sight words from his poster board. He came to the word "either" and started spelling it out. E-I-T-H then he asks is it "IR" or "OR"? Wes quickly chimes in, "it's OR." I pause for a second, waiting for him to change his answer, but no. So, I step in and tell Ryan that it is ER. Ryan, in his quick-witted nature, chimes back with "looks like YOU'RE going to have to go back to Kindergarten!!" Wes and I started dying laughing, so of course he knew he was being funny and got such a kick out of it. Love that kid.

Lastly, because I know this post didn't have much to say about Charlie since I write the monthly updates on him, here he is in all his glory. Charlie being Charlie. There's not much else to say.
