It's crazy that in less than a month, our little rascal will be a year old. This time last year I was on bedrest for 6 weeks consuming insane amounts of food and watching way too much daytime TV; boy how things have changed! Ryan is really on the move. Climbing on things and pulling up on just about everything. He does get a little nervous sometimes after he has already pulled up and will cry until you pick him up or faceplant when he loses his balance.
We have had a really fun month going to our Gymboree classes where he is reluctantly learning new skills (we are going through an UBER clingy phase where I must be within 12 inches of him at all times). Our neighborhood has also started a playgroup for newish mommies, which I really enjoyed and look forward to new friends and fun adventures. Here was Ryan's Valentines pictures, or I should more appropriately say, the pics I took of him on Valentine's Day.
He got his second double ear infection this month. He is such a trooper though and doesn't even complain. The only reason I took him in was after 5 days on constant congestion, the Triaminic wasn't working and I was getting worried. He never ran fever or complained in the slightest, it makes me feel bad :( This was taken after the doctor's visit.
He has really become obsessed with the rubber mat under the rug. We finally stopped getting onto him about it and he actually seems to mess with it less! Here he is before church a few weeks ago just checking in on the mat, making sure it was still there and wondering why the heck I always take so many pics of him.
His Aunt Christina brought him a cute little onesie from Maine for Christmas and it fits perfectly now. How cute is he!??!
Other shenanigans he seems to be interested in include, taking off his shoes whenever he gets a chance (I got him some cute Sperry's for the spring and he hates having shoes on), playing hide-n-seek under the pillows (this is a daily occurrence), picking our noses or poking at our eyes whenever he takes a bottle (I snapped a few pics, but they aren't too flattering), opening and closing doors in our bedroom and bathroom (he seriously can't get enough of it - I think we may have a future engineer on our hands), whenever a ball rolls under the furniture he crawls over to it, scrunches down and stares at hit, trying to reach the ball (it is so cute because he is so helpless! I need to get some pics of this), and shaking his head NO because he thinks it's funny and he loves an audience!
He has really become such a ham - he leaves us in stitches everyday and we have so much fun with him. We're ready for the nice weather to stick around so we can do more activities outside since he loves it outside. We took him on a few wagon rides and I see many more in our future!
A few status update on Ryan:
* Just this week we have tried to scale down to 3 bottles a day (morning, afternoon, and night) with one of those bottles being whole milk. It seems to be going well so far
* Sleeping from about 7:30 or so pm to 7:30-8 am with a good nap in the morning (1 to 1.5 hours) and a short nap in the afternoon (30-40 min)
* Wearing size 18 months clothes and size 4 diapers
* He was almost 23 lbs as of 2 weeks ago at his doctor's appt.
* Seems like he is working on the word Ba (possibly for bottle, ball, and just about any other tangible object)
* Waves at more appropriate times which leads us to believe he knows what it means
* Almost can get himself in his little chair (still trying to figure out the turning around part of it)
* He does more normal crawling, but the combat crawl is still his preferred method of travel as it proves to be the quickest way to get anywhere
Here are a few of the monthly pics:
As far as the rest of the family goes, we're about to get pretty busy. Wes got into Rice for his MBA!!! Plans and research are underway for our bathroom remodel, I am trying to plan for his birthday party, and of course, there's always work, but we have some fun trips and weddings to look forward to as well!
