Randomness

Ryan's had a busy couple of weeks. He is really loving gymnastics and swim class lately. Swim class has become his absolute favorite thing to do these days. Every night he ask to go to swim class and anytime we are packing up to leave, that is where he thinks he is headed. He actually has become a little over confident in the pool, so I am having to really drill it in his head about pool safety. He loves Miss Eileen and showing off his new skills of blowing bubbles, jumping off the tower, and using his kick sticks by himself.

We went to a birthday party a few weeks ago at a place called Noah's Ark and he had a blast. He jumped right in and took off. He had no fear and eventually was doing the big kid slide all by himself. It is the perfect place for toddlers because the entire pool is never more than 1 ft. deep. We will definitely be going back this summer!

We met Ashley and Alex at Discovery Green a weeks ago to play in the fountains. I thought Ryan wasn't going to be a huge fan because they spray realllly hard and he didn't care much for splash pads last summer, but after watching Alex for a minute, he ran in and loved it. This was of course until he smacked his chin on the wall and fell on his head. He bounced right back though. He finished up with a corn dog (this boy LOVES corn dogs).
Ryan had his maybe 5th haircut a few weeks ago and this was the first time he didn't go absolutely crazy. He was tempted to cry at the beginning, but he learned that a lollipop and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse could divert his attention. He only went haywire when the clippers came out to trim his neck. He did NOT like those, but I guess I can't blame him.

We were supposed to go to Ryan's second cousin, Will's, 2nd birthday party on Friday, but with it being the last day of MDO combined with the heat, we didn't quite make it in time. Well, I had told him that morning we would be going to a birthday party after school and I have now learned my lesson never to tell him about a birthday party if there is a remote possibility of it not happening. His heart was so broken, I don't think I have ever seen him so upset. He was devastated and cried for about 20 minutes nonstop. So I took him to get a chocolate milkshake instead which I think kind of smoothed things over. Poor guy.

We also had a wonderful Mother's Day this past weekend. Other than me having the world's worst sinus infection and laying around like a bump on a log, it was a lot of fun. We had lunch at my parents and dinner with Wes' mom and family. Wes also surprised me with a Flip camera which I am so excited about because Ryan always freezes up around our big video camera and at least with this one he thinks it is a phone. Plus I can keep it with me all the time and try to capture more of his craziness. Well, this past week marked the end of his frist year of MDO (tear!), I'll have to update with some pics in another post!
