Summer so far...

This post is a bit overdue, but I wanted to catch up on our summer activities so far. Ryan finished up T-ball and swim team in June. I think he was more than ready for t-ball to be over. With all of the rain in May, so many practices were cancelled and games rescheduled or rained out, the season just really drug on. Hopefully next year, he'll get a better shot at it!

To say that he loved swim team is a major understatement. He had a blast and met a bunch of new friends. He also really got the hang of the whole competition aspect of it by the end of the season. They write their event/heat/lane assignments on their arms and the boys thought they were so cool.

He and his best bud Grant. They played t-ball together, too and have become really close. Thankful for such good friends in our neighborhood.

A swim meet wouldn't be complete without B eating or snacking on just about anything he can get his hands on from the concession stands.

Me and my boy after his first ever relay. It was pretty cute because he had no idea what a relay was and got pretty nervous about when to go and what to do, but he did great!

Ryan's last meet of the season. We had already planned our trip to Gulf Shores before knowing the schedule, so we missed the last meet and divisionals. Ryan did a great job this season. I think his best freestyle time was 40.00 and his backstroke was 41.92.

All of the 6 and under boys were so sweet. It was such a great group - Ryan and Grant had an awesome time together!

We've had a bunch of fun swim dates at Grant's pool (or as B refers to to - baby Chase's pool who is Grant's little brother). A bunch of our neighbor friends all came over to their for Memorial Day.

Wes' cousin got married over Memorial Day weekend as well. This was only our 2nd night where both of us were together and away from all 3 the kids overnight in about 10 months - so it was a pretty big deal!!

Ryan's had a couple of friend's birthday parties since school has been out. Here he is at the Little Gym, celebrating Jamie's birthday. He thought he was pretty funny grabbing the whole piece of ice cream cake in one bite!

Since school has been out, there have definitely been days where the kids don't burn as much energy, therefore, having a little more difficulty going to sleep at night; not to mention that our schedules have just shifted to a slightly later bedtime and wake up time. Here's proof that even after going to bed around 8:30 pm, two hours later, B was still wide awake talking and singing to himself.

We took the boys on one of Wes' Fridays off to Schlitterbahn in Galveston. My mom offered to keep Charlie, which was awesome, so we could enjoy time with just Ryan and Bradley. They were pretty pumped to go, even though they had no idea what they were about to get themselves into.

To say that we all had a great time is a huge understatement. The boys had an absolute blast and did way more rides than I thought they would. We were able to do all of the tube rides and Ryan could even do a few body slides. B even loved the dark, enclosed, super fast tube slides. Neither of them were really ever too scared and just went non-stop for almost 6 hours. We had such a great time, we decided to get season passes since we knew we would be down there a few times over the summer.

The boys have been enjoying the Mock version of a waterpark in our backyard quite a bit this summer, and by waterpark, I mean water table.

They get pretty crazy with the water hose. Oh and by the way, notice those tiny little undies?!? Haha. Sometimes B gets motivated and insists on wearing them. These boys definitely idolize each other.

The first weekend of June, our neighbors had invited us out to their lakehouse for the weekend near Woodville. They have a little girl who is exactly Ryan's age and another little girl that's just a few months older than Bradley, so it's perfect and they all get along really well with each other.

Ryan, Bradley, and Ashley all slept in the kids' room together. This was B's first night to sleep in something other than a crib or a pack n play, so we really didn't know what to expect. We bought a blow-up toddler bed for him and he was pretty excited about it. I knew it would take him a while to go to bed, but didn't think it would be THAT long! We could hear them giggling and chatting and even jumping around. At one point, Ashley and Ryan sent B downstairs to see us because he wouldn't stop talking and they wanted to go to bed. We finally got them to calm down and by the next night, it only took about half of the amount of time for them to fall asleep. B did great and didn't get up and slept just fine throughout the night. That Saturday, we went out on the boat a bunch. the kids tubed, I skied, and we went on a few boat rides. They all had a blast. Here is Ryan and Wes on the tube.

They also built a slide off the side of their dock, and the kids probably slid down it over 100 times, no lie. We had such a great time over the weekend, until B woke up Sunday morning and threw up curdled milk from the night before at the breakfast table while we were all eating. Lovely! So, needless to say, the habit of him taking his bottle with him to bed at night came to a screeching halt. So we ended the weekend a little early and headed home, just in case he was sick (which he wasn't - it was clearly the milk).

Summer has definitely gotten off to a fun start. The boys just expect fun activities to be planned for them now. If we ask them what they want to do for the day, B immediately responds by shouting out "Hitterbahn!!" He's even gotten into singing the song that you hear on the radio or see on TV. He'll sing "Hitterbahn - bahn - bahn!" Next up - an update from our week in Gulf Shores, AL!
