Meet the Mocks: March Madness

March was filled with sports, sports, and more sports. Baseball season kicked off the first weekend as did the boys 8 and under championship swim meet in Pensacola. The first Friday of the month, we had the opening ceremonies up at the baseball field. Here is Ryan's 7/8 team - he is number 9.

Early the next morning, we headed to Pensacola for the Southeast Conference Championship swim meet. Here's the 10 and under kids swimming in the morning session.

Ryan swam his first 100 free ever and he got 1st in his heat and 2nd overall! We were so pumped watching him swim and cheering him on.

He also ended up winning the 100 IM and taking off almost 7 seconds from his best time. Those two videos are too long to post. He placed 3rd in the 25 free and 4th-9th in the rest of his events. I think he improved all but 1 time the entire meet.

Here is B swimming his 25 free. He took a second off of his best time as well. He ended up taking over 12 seconds off his backstroke and swam his first legal 25 yard butterfly.

Charlie is such a trooper at these meets! For how long and boring they can be as a 3 year old spectator, he does so well! Trips to the concession stands always seems to help, too!

We left that afternoon and headed straight for the beach. It was such a beautiful day, and for the first weekend in March, it wasn't too terribly cold.

The water was so crystal clear, it was gorgeous!

They were much braver than I was, running back and forth getting in and out of the water.

The sun was in their eyes, but they were good sports anyway.

We made adjustments so the boys could actually look at the camera!

Charlie wanted to get buried because he was so cold, he said the sand would help keep him warm.

He then realized a towel was probably his best bet.

These two didn't seem to mind too much.

On a quest to find sand dollars

After a few hours at the beach, we all got a little chilled, so opted for an early dinner at Peg Leg Pete's which was a fun new place that had a playground for the kids and a view of the bay. We checked into the hotel after dinner and all hit the hay pretty early. Unfortunately, Wes received a work call starting about 2:30 in the morning, and by 5 am decided he needed to go into work. So, he Ubered home and I took the kids to the meet the next morning. We were all a bit groggy after getting restless sleep, but luckily, they were in good spirits.

Ryan ended up placing 3rd overall for the 7/8 year old boys. We were ecstatic. He clearly has a love for the sport. It's also been fun watching B get a hang of it as well. He doesn't quite understand that he still will have another 1.5 years as a 6 and under and 3.5 years as a 7/8 (which is how USA swimming categorizes age groups. It's just 8 and under). So when he beats 1-2 kids in the 25 free, it's a pretty big deal!

We had such a great time at the meet. After quickly recovering from the meet, both boys had baseball games Monday evening.

Charlie loves baseball, but for an entirely different reason. He and his buddy, Hudson are thick as thieves. They come up with the most silly games to occupy themselves. Charlie gets so upset when it's not Bradley's game because that's the team Hudson's brother is on. They get along so well. I hope they can actually play t-ball together next year!

We kept thinking they looked like Dumb and Dumber when they were doing this. They were cracking themselves (and everyone else around them) up!

The boys had their spring school pics this past month. B was so cute and wanted to take a few pics before we left for school. Totally not prompted by me! I guess I have trained him well!

The following weekend, Wes was working, so a few friends of ours convinced me to bring the boys at the crack of dawn to stand in line at our new indoor trampoline park for a year of free jump passes. The doors opened at 10 and from 7:30-9:15, they were great. It was those last 45 minutes that they started getting crazy.

The dodge ball courts were a huge hit! I think the boys would be content playing in there the entire time!

The boys had dentist check-ups last month and did great! Clean bill of health for B and C. Ryan had a tiny little cavity that the dentist filled right on the spot.

We ended back up at Urban Air a few days later for a birthday party for one of Bradley's friends.

It was all fun and games until Charlie got stuck in the balls and all I could see were his little hands peeking out!

This was right after he almost caught his first pop fly out in left field. It literally went in and out of his glove, but everyone was still pretty excited that it almost happened!

At another one of Ryan's games this past month, he ended up hitting his first homerun! It was so exciting. We were tied at 0-0 and we had one runner on in the 4th inning, I think. So he brought it to 2-0 and it was our first win of the season after losing 4 and tying 2 games! He got the game ball and was just on cloud nine for like 2 straight days!

The Friday before Spring Break, the kids had Easter Chapel and their Easter party at the preschool.

They sang a few sweet songs and listened to the Easter story.

Charlie's little girlfriend, decided she would be cute and put the raspberries on her fingers. Next thing I knew, Charlie needed more raspberries as well.
