Charlie's baptism

I was a little behind the eight ball on scheduling Charlie's baptism, but better late than never! I began the scheduling process in February and we ended up with a date of June 7th! We decided to have him baptized at St. Luke's Methodist Church (where the other two boys were baptized) and wanted Dr. Pace to perform the service, so after a lot of back and forth, we settled on this date!

We loaded up everyone that morning to head to the church. Of course, schedules never go as planned and when scheduling that far in advance, you never know how a baby's nap schedule will have changed by that time. So of course, Charlie did not have enough sleep going into the morning, but what are you gonna do?!?!

We got him dressed in the church office and took a picture for the church, so decided to snap a few of our own in case things melted down later. Not the prettiest back drop, but I think these were the best we got all day!

 

Charlie did just about as expected once the service began. He fussed a little bit, but once Dr. Pace baptized him and put the water on his head, he immediately calmed down. Once we sat back down, he took a bottle and that was about all he could stand. He was fussing quite a bit, so Wes took him out to the family room for the remainder of the service.

 

Entertaining Bradley was also quite a feat. He hasn't sat through "big church" before, so we were struggling to keep him quiet. He had a few outbursts. Once, when the pastor said Jesus, he blurted out incredibly loudly, "Jesus Christ!!" and it happened a few other times throughout the service. Also, while reading some scripture, Matthew was mentioned. We have some neighbor friends whose son is named Matthew and his mom is Tina. Well, B is pretty infatuated with Tina, so as soon as he heard the name Matthew, he blurted out, "TINA?!?!!" B ended up coloring on whatever he could find for the majority of the service.

 

And I think Ryan passed notes back and forth between the pews with Alissa and Scooter most of the service. Well after a long 75 minutes, we all made it through and took a few family pics afterwards.

Charlie's Godparents are my brother, Scooter, and Wes' sister, Christina. I think he was the most calm during these pictures, as he clearly was not cooperating in any of the family pics.



After church, both of our families headed over to my parent's house for lunch. We picked up Lupe Tortillas for a yummy Mexican style lunch. By the time we got there, Charlie was just over it. He had been up for almost 4 hours by the time he went down for a nap, which he has never done at least in the morning hours. We tried to get a few more pics with him just in case the others didn't turn out.

We snapped a quick pic of him with his cake, since we knew he would not be awake to enjoy it with us!

 I think his brothers enjoyed it enough for everyone. Bradley kept talking about cake all during lunch!

It was a special day for our lil Charlie bear. We love you buddy!
