Ryan turned 6 on March 26th, and he had a heck of a birthday celebration. It spanned about 10 days. I am sure next year's birthday won't live up to this one! It started off with the Thursday before his birthday, they celebrate them at school. It's pretty sweet. They get to bring a dessert to share with the class and the teachers make a big deal of it. They wear a crown, get a book to take home where each kid writes what they like about the birthday boy/girl, along with some other special books, etc. Wes and I had planned to go up to the school to surprise him for lunch on Friday, but realized the week before that it was Good Friday and there was no school! So, instead, we let him pick where we went to dinner Friday night. Of course, he picked El Jarrito. The boys had a blast running around, getting dirty in the sand, and after dinner, we had some of the waiters come over and sing to him. It was complete with the sombrero and sopapillas. Ryan was pretty pumped, but also really timid and shy, too. I think the hat was a little heavy, so he just sat there as still as can be while they sang to him.
Charlie was a pretty big fan of the whipped cream!
Saturday morning was Ryan's actual birthday. Wes and I blew up balloons and hung them from his door to surprise him in the morning. He LOVED it! They stayed up for a solid week.

We started the tradition of the birthday boy getting to go with dad to the donut store on their birthday. It started when B turned 3, so apparently it's a tradition now. Ryan and Wes went and picked out a bunch of donuts and came home so we could sing to him.
I think B and Charlie were pretty pumped for their donuts as well!
Apparently, the sugar hit them pretty quickly.
We spent the rest of the day celebrating and swimming at my parents for Easter. Then, if that hadn't been enough partying, we took them to sit out and eat on the patio at Willie's that evening. Ryan kept saying how it was his best birthday ever. He then remembered that he would still have his birthday party to look forward to the following weekend.
The following Saturday, we had his birthday party at Times Square out in Katy. He had his first baseball game that afternoon, so when he got home, he wanted to take a shower (Probably to impress all of his lady friends). He immediately started posing for the camera once he got dressed. What a lady's man!
Before we headed out, we let Ryan open his big gift from my parent's. It was the LEGO Fire Station he's had his eye on for a while now. He was pretty pumped. It's 1000 pieces, and 3 days into building, it's bout 80% complete.
The great thing about a bowling alley, is all we had to bring was the cake and party favors! Talk about turnkey. So, we snapped a few family pics before his friends arrived.
I think B was more excited to bowl than most of the guests there. He always wanted to know when it was his turn and would gladly take someone else's spot if they weren't paying attention!
The lighting was so odd, my pictures aren't the best. It was pretty dark and had a black light, so all my pictures are overexposed! Look what I stumbled upon while snapping a few pics. Yup, that's Ryan hugging all over one of his little girlfriends from school. Seriously!??! This shouldn't be happening for at least 6-7 more years, right?!!? Luckily, her mom was right there and said she liked seeing boys being affectionate. Eeek!

After bowling for a while, they brought out the pizza. Our boys almost ate almost an entire pizza between the 3 of them!

This lighting is killing me. Wish I would've made them turn up the lights. Here's my attempt at a group shot, minus a few kiddos. They actually did pretty well, I thought.
After the cake, we handed out their arcade cards and the kids went to town. My boys were most obsessed with Skee-ball and anything and everything racecar related.
Ryan kept wasting so much money on this game. It is very deceiving to a young child. It makes you believe he is going to hit the jackpot at any given moment, but I think after probably about $5 he realized he wasn't getting anywhere.

It was such a fun day celebrating Ryan. I think he had a blast as well!
