After the boys swam in the All-stars meet on the last Friday in July, we headed straight to the Mobile airport to catch our flight to Houston. My mom had flown in that morning to watch the boys swim, so she was with us on the way back. They were pretty excited to fly, as Charlie never has and Bradley was only 13 months the last time he did.
I don't think anyone was as excited as B was. He was amped up the entire hour and a half flight. I don't think I would've survived had it been any longer!
Charlie surprisingly was not scared in the slightest with take off or anything for that matter. He just had to be in Wes' lap and all was good in the world!

We landed in Houston around 3 pm on a Friday and were on the road probably by about 3:30. This is traffic going inbound in Houston!!! Man, I sure don't miss this!!!!
Wes was with us for the weekend, so we made the most of the 36 hours he was there. We hung out with both of our families and sweet nephews and ate Mexican food. We had our priorities in line! We spent some time at GiGi's with Wes' family and little Henry! The boys were sooooo into Harris and Henry the whole time we were in Texas. Bradley, especially, just couldn't get enough.

My mom kept Harris a few days while we were there, and the boys loved waking up to having him there to play with in the mornings!

The first weekend we were there, we took the boys to an Astros game. It had been a year since they had been, and Charlie didn't go with us last time. So, he was pretty excited. There was a lot of talk about Orbit, the mascot and if they were or weren't going to be scared of him. Ultimately, they decided they would NOT be scared of him. Sidenote- B broke his glasses right before heading to Texas so we had to wait a bit for the new ones to be shipped.

We first had dinner in the Diamond Club, and what is it that you see upon first entering!? The candy bar! It took a lot of convincing to make them eat some real food before devouring everything in sight!
Kristen and CJ came with us which was just too cute for the boys, and what do you know, they matched!!!

We had so much fun together. Charlie was so cute when we first sat down. He said something about when are they going to start playing the game? He was facing me in my lap, so I told him to turn around and watch because the game already started. He quickly corrected me by saying, "No, when are these two brothers going to start playing?!" He was referencing Ryan and B. I guess he has been to so many of their sporting events, he just assumed we were going to watch them play!!
They loved when the Astros hit a home run and got to watch the train move!

Orbit came down to where we were and Ryan was ecstatic. Bradley was pretty excited as well, but it just took him a little longer to warm-up.
Charlie thought he was brave, but quickly realized he wasn't, so Orbit was trying to entice him with a toy. Everyone around us was cracking up.
Bradley decided a little too late that he wanted to give Orbit a hug. Oops! Although, he talked about this encounter for days and weeks to come. He was so proud of himself for giving him a hug!
Our second week there we started off with a visit to MiMi. She was so happy to see the boys and they had a lot of fun looking around her room and talking her ear off.

Charlie has a pretty sunk in belly button, and one day he all of a sudden decided to start inspecting it. He noticed something dark in it. I thought it was just a shadow, but he was determined it's dirt. Well, he didn't forget about it for weeks to come. I had mentioned to him we could get a Q-tip to try and clean it out, and a few days ago he came to me asking for a teaponder. I had no idea what he was talking about until he finally was able to tell me he needed it for his belly button. I was able to deduce he was asking for a Q-tip!
One of the only days it rained while we were there we were supposed to have a swim party with all of the Hicks girls and their kids. We ultimately moved the party to Guadalajara for lunch. Ryan loves spending time with Jackson and Will. They are so sweet with each other!
We had a little mini birthday party for Charlie since we didn't have one in Alabama, and he was pretty stoked for the cookie cake.
After lunch we headed to the movies. We went and saw the Emoji movie and it was Charlie's first movie. He did awesome and had so much fun. He gobbled up all of his popcorn, and once he ran out he started eating my mom's!
We capped off the day with a carousel ride in the mall. It was a red letter day for them!
Having dinner at Whiskey Cake with some of my best girlfriends/neighbors from Katy. Miss them everyday!!!
Ryan picked out a gold fidget spinner for Charlie at the grocery store as another birthday gift.
We also went and visited MaMaw that week as well. She wanted to give them each $1 which of course excited them.

We had all of our old neighborhood buddies over to my parent's to swim one day. The kids had so much fun seeing each other again.

Wes got into town later that week and on Friday morning, we headed to Galveston for a weekend with the Mock family. We made a stop off at his Uncle's house on the bay and let the boys swim for a bit.

The boys wanted to do an ask/answer session with Aunt Allie. Not really sure how this got started, but the interviews were a hit. I just wish I had it on video!
This house had a little workout room that I used a few times, and I snuck in there one day to catch Ryan burning some calories. I asked him how long he was planning to do it and I can't remember exactly, but he had set some goals he was trying to achieve.
I think he ultimately went for 20-25 minutes. I asked him what he did or thought about the entire time, and he just said he was thinking about what all those buttons were for and how long he was trying to go!
We took a few pics down by the beach, so I wanted the boys to practice their smiles before we went!

We had such a fun weekend between the pool in the backyard, playing games, walking the beach, going to the country club, it was so nice to just be around family after being away for so long.
Buzz wanted to have a turn on the elliptical too. He was bound and determined to get that thing moving.

We made a stop by our old house with the boys on our way to meet the Correas for dinner one night. I'm pretty sure even Ryan had a hard time remembering it since we moved over 3 years ago. So many great memories in our first home, it's hard to imagine that none of the boys will ever know or remember it!
We spent most of the last part of our trip to Texas by taking a small vacation to Austin, just Wes and me. We hadn't been away in forever or even 1 night away since before we moved to Alabama, so it was much needed! We went to Travaasa in Austin, and had an amazing time.
We hung out by the pool, got a massage, hiked, and even took an Archery class!
We had dinner at an awesome place, called Eberly, for our 10 year anniversary, a few weeks early.
The following night, we went to an even more amazing place, called Barley Swine which was one of the coolest restaurants we had ever been to.
We came home Friday and spent the evening getting one last night swim in as well as an impromptu dance party. Saturday, we headed back to Sugarland for lunch and then had one final night out before heading home.
I think he was just as excited for the plane ride home as he was when we first went.
We had about 8 hours that Sunday afternoon to prep for not only the first day of school, but for Whole30 as well. Wes was so kind enough to support me wanting to embark on this crazy 30 day journey, so I was busy getting food and recipes, etc. to be prepared for the following day. First day of school post up next, but Bradley and Charlie had dentist appointments after Ryan left that morning. They did great. Charlie was pretty nervous, but got to watch B go first. When it was his time, he just hopped up in the chair and I think his mouth was agape the entire time, even when they weren't working on him!
Clean reports for both, and man, did they score some loot!
Ryan also started TNT year-round swimming the first week of school. Bradley took my camera and decided we needed a pic of Ryan, although I have no clue who he is in any of these pictures.
Aunt Christina's boyfriend, Ricky, had an injured knee while we were in Texas. When we got home, Charlie found some random swords and wands and told me he was using "critches" as well!!
He kills me!
It was a fast and furious month, but we wouldn't have it any other way. Now, we are back in the swing of things with the school year and sports and will give an update on that next!
