Bradley's 3rd birthday party

We decided to celebrate B's birthday a little earlier this year so that it wouldn't get lost in the shuffle of Christmas. Ever since Ryan had his big 5th birthday party at Westwood this past March, it is all Bradley can talk about. He basically started proclaiming that his party would be there about 3 months ago. For his first and second birthday, we just did small get togethers with family and a few close friends, so we figured he could have a "real" party this year. It has been the topic of conversation around our house for a while now. Every night, after baths the boys talked about B's birthday party. B discussed what theme he wanted and it started out as Thomas the Train and ended with a princess party. I had already created a train invite, so that's what we went with! Here are the boys before we left for his party.

After Ryan's party and the sweet superhero poster Poppy made for him, B demanded he also have one for his party. The kid has a great memory, and a few weeks ago asked about what his poster was going to look like. Luckily, Poppy pulled it off and it was really cute.

The boys had a blast. Even Charlie was getting in on the action and was acting like a wild man. He definitely requires his own set of adults to look after him. Charlie wanted to jump so badly, but B kept knocking him over. I think these pics are pretty funny.

B got mad because he didn't want anyone else jumping on his trampoline. I had to capture his selfishness!

This was quite the learning experience for Ryan. He's had a pretty big birthday party ever since he was 1, so learning to share the spotlight and realize it was not about him, took a little coaching. He came downstairs before the party in his birthday shirt from when he turned 5. Clearly, we made him change. Then, he asked when it came time for the mountain, if he could sit with Bradley (they usually spotlight the birthday kid during this time). B said yes, happily. Ryan is such a good sport though and did great.

 I think if all he received was this medal, his day would have been made. At one point, when they were playing in the mountain jungle gym, B had disappeared for a few minutes. No one knew where he went, and finally one of the coaches said he had gone into the dark tunnel. Well, apparently that is where they go and hide the medal for the birthday kid. When he finally came out, he told me he was just sitting in there because his medal was "lighting up." It is glow in the dark and he was pretty obsessed. See how proud he is, haha!

Getting ready to sing to the birthday boy. We had discussed singing Happy Birthday all week. He was very adamant that he would not be singing, but just listening to everyone sing to him. And of course, in true Bradley fashion, he sat very still through the entire song.

 Mr. Icing. He doesn't care too much for the cake, but could eat a pound of icing if we would let him.

When we got home, B wasn't too concerned with opening his presents, but Ryan sure was. Again, we had to have a talk prior to starting about how these were Bradley's gifts, but we were sure he would share them with Ryan. Poor Ryan. He tried his best, but couldn't contain himself, and we would find him digging into a gift or asking if he could play with it. Once B got the hang of it, he was all about the presents.

He got a Batman watch (Seriously, Jill, you made his entire night). He was all about it as it has been something he was wanted for weeks now. He loves to wear Wes' sports watch around and has been begging for one of his own.

Pretty sure he racked up, as if he really needed more toys!! Haha, but he really did love what he received.

Now that he has realized that this was not his actual birthday, he keeps insisting that we go back next weekend on his actual date to have another party. We told him he could pick where we went to dinner and could get some cupcakes, but I think when it actually gets here, he may be disappointed!! It was such a fun day watching how much fun he had. Thanks to all of our family and friends who came to celebrate!!
