Meet the Mocks: October recap

This month has been another extremely hot one. I feel like this is the summer that just won't end. This Friday the high is 88 degrees, it's insane and makes it hard to enjoy what is supposed to be our fall weather. We are over the pool (well, they are all closed anyway) and completely over the sweating which makes it quite difficult to enjoy the sweltering t-ball games every Saturday morning.

Speaking of t-ball, it's sports time around the Mock household, and not just for Ryan. It's finally B's turn as well. Since neither of them were really interested in soccer this fall, Ryan decided he wanted to play basketball and Bradley was adamant about wanting to give baseball a shot. Here B is before his first game a few weeks ago.

The bat bag is just about as big as he is!

Someone did NOT want his picture taken. He is so ready for it to be his turn, his patience is beginning to wear thin with all of this spectating. Especially when the games are back to back, he gets over it pretty quickly.

He definitely enjoys more of the batting aspect of the game. The fielding isn't quite his thing yet, although he can throw the ball pretty dang far (and hard, too!). He's also not too aggressive either. When the ball is hit, the entire team dogpiles on top of the ball. Bradley will usually jump in, but after giving the others a 2-3 second head start. Here he is getting a pretty good hit!

They give out a medal at the end of each game based on a certain attribute they look for in the players. I had a feeling that during this particular game, B might get it, so I was ready to capture the moment. It was the 2nd game of the season and on the way over, he told me he was getting it that game. I tried to explain to him that there were a bunch of games and he would eventually get one. Well, he must have predicted it right because he got it!

After B's games in the morning, Ryan plays basketball. So we pack up our stuff and drive over to the school he plays at next. Their league is pretty intense this season. There he is on the bottom right trying to get past the player guarding him.

I think he's made one bucket each game, but his defensive and passing skills have really improved this year.

Here's a good nothing but net shot!

No, we are not potty training yet, but Charlie does think it's fun to go sit on his potty. He puts the seat on and hops up on to it all by himself, no stool necessary. He's only half fallen in one time. He will usually go number 2, go hop on the potty, then get off and say he went.

He thinks he's so big. He now climbs up in this booster seat all by himself and just sets himself up for mealtime. He picks out his silverware, drink cup, etc.

Charlie's hair has gotten out of control. When its actually groomed, he looks so cute and super fratty, but when it gets wet it's insane!

Of course, B needed a hairdo as well!

Wes started reading some Shel Silverstein "Where the Sidewalk Ends" in the evenings after baths. Well after a few nights of doing this, it became a routine. Charlie will look for any excuse to delay bedtime, so he now begs for it every night. On this particular night, he climbed up in the bed and helped himself to the book.

Notice the orientation! He takes his reading very seriously.

The Magnatiles are still a hit aroudn our house. I think I know something Santa will need to bring this year. It seems we can never have enough of those things to build the elaborate structures they want to create.

He's gotten pretty skilled with his building. He's learned how to connect without getting frustrated anymore.

Here's another one of B's t-ball games. His stances in the outfield are hilarious.

He really likes to set-up his shots before attempting them.

We told him he needed to really work on his defense and rebounding. Well, he was able to successfully get this rebound, pass to a teammate and they scored! It was pretty sweet.

Our friends, the Correas, had a dress-up birthday party for the girls. The boys were all excited about putting on their costumes. So we got them all ready and dressed, and two minutes after being inside, they noticed a bouncehouse. So, there went the costumes!

Wes and I attended one of his cousins' wedding a few weekends ago. My parents came over to keep the boys and wanted to do something fun with them. So, they decided to go bowling and play video games. Can you tell what was the most important thing to get first and foremost???
