We started off the month with our sweet friend, Braden's 5th birthday party at Potter's Brush. I haven't taken the boys to paint ceramics in a long time, but this was right up their alley. They loved it!
Charlie insists on doing everything the big boys do these days, including eating ice cream and cereal from a bowl with a spoon. It's a giant mess.

Since Ryan learned to play chess this summer, B decided he wanted to learn to play checkers. So, they have had to take turns at night playing with Wes. It's taken some time to get a good understanding, but he's getting there!
We were able to take the boys to their first Texan's game last month which was pretty exciting. My mom found them all JJ Watt jerseys, which they think is just so cool. They want to wear them all the time, not to mention, B especially, is always looking for opportunities to point Watt or any other Texans paraphernalia out when he sees it. Whether at HEB, the mural painted on the dentist's office wall, you name it, he gets pretty excited when he sees it. We left Charlie with my parents, since we knew it would be too much for him as it was also right in the middle of his naptime. Still tried to get a family shot before heading out.

We had a few extra tickets, and luckily, on a whim, the Correas were able to join us!
The seats were great, and they were on club level which made it really nice for the kids. It was still about 100 degrees in Houston, so it was nice to be able to go inside for some AC when needed.
I think the kids favorite part was all of the food, naturally! Something about having your own pizza in a box is pretty cool. Unfortunately, as soon as we walked onto the club level, we saw some college mascots (I think SFA and Sam Houston were both performing at halftime, so their mascots were there walking around). Well, we all know how B does with dressed up characters, so he about flipped his lid within the first two minutes and was petrified he would see them again the rest of the game.
Just the fact that the bull was down on the field was too close for comfort for B. He had so many questions about where these animals slept, and if they were locked up in the stadium overnight. You could just tell his wheels were spinning the entire game, as he was so worried they were somehow going to jump over the seats and come and attack him!
He was calm at different points in time and was eventually able to enjoy himself. Ryan, on the other hand, did not care much for all of the noise. It was a super rowdy first quarter and just so happened to be down on our end we were sitting on. It did eventually subside, but I think it was a little much for him.
Love this little guy, he did really get into the game, trying to kind of understand what was happening.
The whole experience somehow turned him into a die-hard fan. He's always talking about the Texans, and is all of a sudden interested in football when it's on TV. For weeks after the game, he was telling me how he dreams about the animals and it worries him, but have no fear, he said the dreams have stopped now. Whew!

After chowing down on some cotton candy because it wouldn't be an outing to a sports event without it, we wrapped it up and headed out before the crowds.
Despite some of the hiccups with the noise and the characters, the boys had a blast and loved the experience.

Coincidentally, my dad had tickets to the Diamond seats at the Astros game that following weekend. Ryan went to one game before with my parents and didn't stop talking about it for months. Well, once I looked at the schedule and realized this was the last weekend of home games, we thought we should jump on the opportunity to go and take B as well. It was a Friday evening game, so we headed in to pickup Wes from downtown and drop Charlie off at my parents. Of course, Ryan was pretty tired after a long day of school and B was couldn't contain his excitement.
Now this experience was a lot more their speed (and mine, too!). You are treated like Kings and Queens here. From the buffet, to the milkshake machine, cotton candy, and unlimited candy bar, it was Heaven for the boys!
Our seats were about 10 rows back from the Catcher's mound and were just awesome!

We had such a fun time. B was a little worried about Orbit, although we never saw him except on the TV while eating dinner. He was always on guard waiting for him, but thankfully, he never showed.
Having so much fun!
And if pizza, queso, preztels, cracker jacks, candy, milkshakes, and ice cream weren't enough, time to top it all off with some more cotton candy!
Ryan and B were invited to a friend's birthday party where the "real" Batman made an appearance. As you can tell, B was still extremely skeptical. He just can't handle it. Ryan thought it was pretty cool though.
This kid has been throwing some major fits lately. The terrible twos are here and clearly aren't going anywhere. I would say 99% of my fights with him revolve around snacks. As you can see, he has an empty snack bowl in hand. He literally just lives for snacks. He goes and grabs a bowl, heads to the pantry or the fridge, and just starts taking things out. I've had to put the lock thingy on the pantry door, but unfortunately, there is no way to lock up the fridge from him. He gets so mad, too, when I don't give him what he wants. Now, he is starting to understand, if he doesn't eat his meal, then no dessert. He has even started saying, "I get no sert!" over and over because he knows!!
Charlie started the Little Gym this September, and absolutely loves it. He looks forward to "nastics" every Wednesday with Ms. Yami. He's even perfected his forward roll in a matter of about 6 weeks!
Unlike the other two boys, he is very willing to try it all and isn't too shy in class like they were are this age. It's refreshing to see him love it so much and not feel as if I am forcing it!
Happy for the moment, he probably stole a snack!
Our neighbor, Lainie, had her 4th birthday party at Westwood a few weeks ago. This place just doesn't get old for my boys!
We went and played Top Golf with the Correas a few Sundays ago and it was Charlie's first time to really hit the ball. I think the kids played 95% of the time and the adults sat back and relaxed! It's great entertainment for the kids (and cheap before noon, too!).
Ryan lost his first top tooth on 9/25. Wes had to pull it out which was hard for me to watch! He was really brave though and was very patient with Wes! Stay tuned for next month because its' next door neighbor wasn't too far behind!
They had a Mad Hatter tea party at school last month, where the kids were encouraged to wear a hat. Charlie took it very seriously and apparently wore the hat the entire day. He is also now back on a hat kick. For about 10 days following this particular day, he would wake up wanting to know where his hat was and would put it on immediately. He put it on his dresser at bedtime so he would know where it was the next morning.

They also had Grandparent's day at school a few weeks ago. So happy GiGi was able to take off work and come (my new nephew, Harris was born that same day, so my parents couldn't make it!). The boys were pretty happy to have her there, and I heard she even had to help take care of the kids in B's class as there were a few incidents the teachers had to tend to!
It was a crazy, busy month, but when is it not?!!? Next up, sports recaps for October!!!
